The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named Six Seven Spared by Miami-Dade Leader.

While perhaps not at the same level as pardoning Thanksgiving turkeys, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She deserves this act of mercy. She has committed zero crimes,” Levine Cava said in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the onset of a second term in office.

“Except perhaps for eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “May this pig enjoy a prosperous future without fear.”

The gathering, which both honors and questions the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was created to mirror the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The animal, contributed by a local firefighter, was named for the popular vernacular phrase of young people yelling “6-7” – inspired by a rap song lyric – often seemingly at random. The craze became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently declared “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Future Secured

The pardoned swine is now destined to live out its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The annual pig pardon has become a cherished method to kick off the holiday season,” said Eric Castellanos, in a notably cheerful message.

“It embodies the character of Miami: happy, varied, and grounded in customs that unite the community. Every time, we are delighted to mark culture and compassion in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Guests enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach croquetas and cafecito as they toasted the swine's new lease on life.
