Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it's natural for concerns to be asked about his position after a further convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in twelve matches, marking the club's poorest streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received plenty of backing from management,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to turn it around and secure a win of course but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it is normal that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with The Board

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Failings and Player Reaction

Slot expressed regret over recurring weaknesses from his team in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a phase of this nature with results this poor.”

He concluded, “However we still have the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is gone, we’re always going to compete.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to its rightful place, show everyone once more what this club is about and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
