19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with former trainer Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface since March of the previous year.

Victory also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one different events.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the first title I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

His defensive strategy and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform positively, supported by an improved serving game.

The champion fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the last five games to take the lead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his first professional victory, gained dominance to create a final set.

He saved 4 early-game break points in a close final set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a rally at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
