LA Battles Historic High Temperatures Just Days Following Major Winter Weather.
After enduring significant rainfall that resulted in floodwaters across areas in the city, Los Angeles is now seeing abnormally hot weather for this time of year.
All-Time High Temperatures
By Friday afternoon, the thermometer soared to 91°F (33°C) in downtown Los Angeles, as reported by weather officials. This breaks the previous daily record for February 27th, which was 31 degrees Celsius (88 Fahrenheit) and was recorded just last year.
"Exceptionally warm weather" were noted on official charts for the region.
Public Health Alerts
Authorities cautioned that Friday's conditions posed an "increased danger for heat illness" for vulnerable populations. Their advice included:
- Keeping well-hydrated.
- Limiting outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
- Never leaving anyone unattended in a parked vehicle.
An Extreme Weather Swing
This dramatic increase in heat follows closely after a massive storm system that battered the region last week. That event brought high winds, thunderstorms, and significant snowfall to higher elevations, causing flash flood warnings for millions residents.

Temperatures Easing
The outlook suggests a cooldown is coming. Readings were predicted to drop to around 61°F (16°C) in central Los Angeles by Friday night.
Other locales that experienced the 90-degree mark featured Woodland Hills, Long Beach, and Burbank. Meanwhile, Westwood, Camarillo, Santa Maria, and Oxnard were expected to see the upper eighties.
In the coming days, central Los Angeles can expect temperatures in the eighties, with mid-70s temperatures expected for the start of March.
