Lawmakers from the Democratic party voiced fury after Donald Trump charged a group of Democratic representatives of being "betrayers" and declared they should be detained and sentenced "through capital punishment" following their publication of a contentious video.

The Recording That Sparked the Debate

The recorded message, published on Tuesday, includes six Democratic congress members who previously acted in armed forces or intelligence capacities.

"Similar to us, you all took an pledge to defend and support this national charter," the officials affirmed in the 90-second video. "Currently, the dangers to our democratic foundation don't only come from abroad, but from right here at home. Our statutes are explicit, you can refuse improper directives, you can reject unlawful commands, you should refuse unlawful commands. No one has to follow commands that violate the statutes or our constitution."

The Former President's Incensed Reaction

The video message appeared to prompt a furious reaction from the previous commander-in-chief.

On Thursday morning, Trump published on his preferred platform: "This represents SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each one of these turncoats to our Nation should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL."

In a separate post, he wrote: "This represents really serious, and Harmful to our Nation. Their statements cannot be permitted to stand. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP???"

In a subsequent message, he stated: "SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!" He also reposted a comment that stated: "HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD !!"

Opposition Representatives React

Following Trump's statements on that day, Top Democrats issued a unified declaration censuring the comments.

"Political violence has no place in this nation," they stated. "Congress members who were featured in the video all acted our nation with great loyalty and honor. We clearly censure Donald Trump's disgusting and dangerous death threats against elected officials, and call on GOP representatives to strongly do the same."

The opposition officials also stated that they had been in contact with security officials "to ensure the safety of these representatives and their loved ones."

"Donald Trump must without delay take down these radical online messages and retract his aggressive discourse before he gets someone killed," the announcement stated.

Representatives' Strong Answer

The representatives who appeared in the video also published a declaration.

"We are former service members and security experts who love this nation and swore an pledge to safeguard and uphold the constitution of the United States," they stated. "Our pledge is permanent, and we aim to honor it. No threat, coercion, or promotion of aggression will prevent us from that sacred responsibility."

"The significant point is that the former president deems it punishable by capital punishment for us to reiterate the law," they stated. "Armed forces members should recognize that we have their support as they fulfill their vow to the founding principles and responsibility to adhere to only lawful orders. It is not only the proper thing to do, but also our duty."

They added: "All citizens must join forces and censure the ex-president's calls for our death and partisan aggression. This is a period for ethical certainty."

Additional Political Comments

The Opposition leader also denounced Trump's remarks and published on digital platforms: "Let's be crystal clear: the former president is demanding the execution of public representatives."

He added: "This represents an outright THREAT. Every Senator, every Representative, all citizens – irrespective of political affiliation – should condemn this without delay and without qualification."

The Republican House speaker defended Trump's assertion that the Democrats had participated in "sedition", describing the video as "extremely improper", adding: "This constitutes very harmful, you have important representatives of the legislature advising soldiers to disobey orders, I think that's historic in American history."

The Republican leader also allegedly stated to the press that in what he examined of Trump's publications, Trump was "explaining the violation of treason" but that "legal experts have to analyze the wording and establish all that."

White House Response

During a White House press conference on that day, when questioned by a reporter, "Does the president want to kill members of Congress?", the executive branch representative replied: "No."

"It's important to note about what the ex-commander in chief is addressing," the official stated. "We see sitting members of the federal government who conspired to organize a recorded statement to individuals of the American armed forces, to serving soldiers encouraging them to defy the executive's lawful orders."

She stated: "The sanctity of our military rests on the hierarchy, and if that system is violated, it can cause fatalities, it can result in confusion, and that is exactly what these elected officials ... are basically encouraging."
