Brinkman takes on the leadership position at 31st Union following the exit of previous head the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was removed from his post due to the game's lackluster initial reveal last autumn.
Recently, 2K president a key figure notified team members about this strategic move through an internal memo, which emphasized that early feedback sessions had shown the need for a more defined game identity.
Ismailer expressed that the developers is now refining Project Ethos with a revised approach, aiming to satisfy community desires.

The news mirrors a similar step taken by the publisher in August, when they recruited an industry veteran from the Diablo team to contribute to the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.

The player input from last fall’s Project ETHOS playtest was revealing. It validated the appeal of a roguelike shooter but indicated we still had work to do. It revealed the necessity for a more distinct vision.
The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve advanced. You took the input to consideration and overhauled the title with a renewed direction - one that’s positioned to achieve its potential to our fans.
Our confidence in this project strengthens every day. To further the remarkable development you’ve made, I’m excited to introduce the new hire as the incoming Studio Head of the team. Following several months of discussions, he comes aboard us on the specified date.
His guidance and expertise in the PVP shooter field is vast, having devoted the past decade and a half producing and leading some of the most recognizable series in the industry, for example the acclaimed shooter, and most recently, the battle royale hit.

Brinkman presently holds the position of executive producer and production lead at Respawn Entertainment for their flagship title. He previously worked at Treyarch and Activision in diverse production roles on the iconic franchise series, and, before that, had periods at other industry leaders.

The upcoming game was announced in last year in conjunction with a community playtest. Initially, 31st Union presented the title as a "free-to-play, third-person perspective action-packed experience and an innovative step forward on the genre."
